It's always the best compliment when a customer comes back to buy a second or third guitar. This time was no exception. The beginning of every build is an exciting opportunity to improve on my existing guitars and come up with something new. Each returning customer brings with them a wealth of experience and insight that not only inspires me but also helps shape the direction of my craft. My customers come with their own unique design ideas that guide my builds, and it is through this collaborative process that we create something truly special together. This time, I was able to take my existing Kestral model and make some adjustments to the shape, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and playability while maintaining the essence of what makes it a Kestral.
It was the first time that I've offered a painted guitar in my lineup. While I have always had a deep appreciation for the natural look and feel of oil finishes, which showcase the wood's grain and character, sometimes a build—and a customer—call for something else entirely. My client had a clear vision in mind and requested a glossy pearlescent white finish that would not only stand out visually but also complement the overall design. I have to say, his choice here, paired with the sleek black hardware, created a stunning contrast that truly elevated this build to a new level of sophistication and style.
This guitar features an ebony fretboard, known for its smooth playability and rich tonal quality, with 24 stainless steel frets that offer durability and a bright sound. The custom fret markers add a personal touch, ensuring that the guitar is not only functional but also a unique piece of art. Additionally, the inclusion of a Floyd Rose tremolo system allows for expressive playing techniques, enabling the guitarist to explore a wide range of sounds and styles. The guitar is equipped with Schaller tuning keys, known for their precision and reliability, ensuring that the instrument stays in tune even under the most demanding performance conditions. Overall, this build represents a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality, tailored to meet the specific desires of my customer while pushing the boundaries of my craftsmanship.
